Subaru and its retailers partner with Operation Warm® to visit local homeless shelters and support agencies to provide children with brand-new necessities like coats, shoes, and socks.
These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, they can also have a significant impact on a child’s mental and emotional well-being.
Through this partnership and other historical Subaru Loves to Help efforts, Subaru and retailers like us will have supported over 1 million children and adults in urgent need nationwide.
At Subaru, we believe what we leave behind is a reflection of who we are. That’s why Subaru and our retailers partner with the Arbor Day Foundation (TM) to provide and distribute 100,000 regionally appropriate trees across the country. We’re proud to establish the largest corporate tree distribution ever. Through this and other Subaru Loves the Earth initiatives, Subaru and our retailers have helped distribute and plant over 1.1 million trees.
Subaru believes we should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. That’s why for over 10 years, Subaru and its retailers like us have partnered with Blood Cancer United® and our local hospital to give warm blankets and encouraging messages of hope, written by our employees and customers, to support our community members living with cancer. Through our combined efforts during this partnership, we have supported over 550,000 cancer patients nationwide. Together, we are proud to be Blood Cancer United’s largest automotive donor.
Subaru and its retailers, like us, are continuing our support of education and high-needs schools in our communities through Subaru Loves Learning(R) by providing teachers across the country with funding to purchase the school supplies and resources they know are needed to help students thrive in the classroom. Through our partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Subaru and its retailers have supported more than 950,000 students nationwide and are proud to be their largest corporate supporter.
Subaru believes all pets deserve a loving home. That's why retailers like us partner with our local animal welfare organization every October to provide direct financial assistance through a grant distributed by the ASPCA® and host pet events to help animals find loving homes. Through our partnership with local and national organizations, Subaru has donated over $70 million, supporting the rescue, adoption, and health of over 700,000 animals. We're proud to be the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA.
Subaru and its retailers believe in giving back to our communities. That's why for every new vehicle sold or leased during the Subaru Share the Love event, Subaru and its retailers, like us, makes a donation to national charities that our owners care about and to over 2,700 local charities where Subaru owners live and work.
Now, after 17 years, Subaru and our retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity all to give back and to make the world a better place.

Subaru and West Herr Subaru of Lockport believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.
Once again, White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary was invited to be the representative for the annual car show here in Buffalo!! We were so excited to bring some of our adoptable senior pups out to meet potential adopters!! It was four days of lots of cuddles and tail wags. But then, the biggest tail wagging inducer came along with a surprise for us! West Herr Subaru of Lockport (pour long time friends) presented us with a check for $500.00!!!!! Here is a photo of Gretchen, the General Manager, handing over the check to one of our fabulous volunteers, Sue Cable, and one of our little pups - Rocky 2! We are soooo lucky to be on West Herr Subaru of Lockport's radar! They invite us to do many events with them including Photos with Bettlejuice (Halloween), Santa (Christmas), Cupid (Valentine's Day) and the Easter Bunny!!! These events widen our network, bring in much needed funds (senior dogs are medically expensive) and make us popular! Several of us have also purchased Subarus as a result! Thank you Subaru and West Herr Subaru of Lockport, for believing in us and supporting our cause in such wonderful, generous ways! We are truly grateful!
His preschool teacher told him that coat day was coming. They told him he would get to pick it out himself. They told him it would be his coat to keep. But as he stood there, with the kind volunteer, hugging himself as they made sure the coat was the right size, he had an idea. He leaned forward and speaking ever so softly, he told the volunteer that when he was done with the coat, he was going to bring it back so that another child could have a coat of their own. No one needed to tell him, he knew this on his own because he felt it....sharing is love. West Herr Subaru of Lockport partnered with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. On February 2, 2026, West Herr Subaru of Lockport donated 140 coats to The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier. These coats not only help keep the children warm, dry and protected; they have a significant impact on the children's mental and emotional well-being. The YWCA of the Niagara Frontier is grateful for this gift that will help so many across our community.
West Herr Subaru of Lockport LOVES to support our community's youth and hosting a local Girl Scout troop for their annual cookie sale was SWEET. We purchased an additional 100 boxes for lucky sales and service customers as a thank you for choosing us as their Subaru Retailer It was an honor to help these hard-working young ladies reach their goal!
Holiday cheer was in full swing on December 13th for Santa Paws. Our customers and community braved the winter weather and came out for a tail wagging good time to get photos with Santa with all proceeds benefiting our local White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary. The mission of White Whiskers is to ensure the well-being of senior dogs by providing loving adoptions, a caring and compassionate option to live out their years, and to offer companionship for humans who will benefit from the special love that only dogs can provide. We are proud to partner with White Whiskers for Subaru Loves Pets and throughout the year. Polla and her crew are big Subaru fans and we value our relationship that has blossomed into wonderful friendship.
West Herr Subaru shared the love with FeedMore WNY when they presented an incredible donation of $33,165 as part of the the annual Subaru Share the Love Event. Through Share the Love, Subaru of Lockport, and Subaru of America, Inc., donated a portion of proceeds from each new Subaru sold, leased and serviced. These funds are used to help alleviate hunger across the Western New York community.
On Saturday, October 4, our great friends at West Herr Subaru of Lockport allowed us at White Whiskers Senior Dog Sanctuary to bring our adoptable pups to the dealership for photo opps, doggie trunk or treat, and a good time all around! We knew we wanted to do a canine Halloween party, and we were excited when West Herr Subaru was receptive to the idea. They are always so good to us, so it shouldn't really have been a surprise. Throughout the time of the party, other dogs arrived in costumes, owners in tow. A photographer (provided by the dealership,) was present to snap pics of the 4 legged pumpkins, goblins and more. And even Beetlejuice made an appearance! Surprisingly, no one was scared! All in all, it was a great party, and everyone went away having enjoyed a terrific time! We love it when West Herr Subaru of Lockport welcomes us to enjoy their beautiful showroom. And we can't forget to mention, THEY HAVE A DOG PARK!!!! Amanda Westley is the consumate hostess. And all the staff are just great to hang out with. It was really a fabulous time! And a couple of us have purchased our Subarus from this very dealership since our partnership began!
On Thursday, June 19, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Eastern Great Lakes Region partnered with West Herr Subaru of Lockport to deliver 80 cozy blankets to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program. Each blanket was accompanied by a heartfelt message of hope, written by West Herr Subaru customers and staff, bringing encouragement and comfort to those facing blood cancer. The generous donation was warmly welcomed by the hospital staff, who were grateful for the opportunity to share these gifts with their patients. The gesture brought smiles and a sense of support to those undergoing treatment. In addition to the blanket donation, West Herr Subaru of Lockport is also supporting the LLS Pediatric Urgent Need Program this year. Their contribution will provide critical financial relief to five pediatric blood cancer patients, helping to cover non-medical expenses such as transportation, food, housing, and utilities—essentials that often become burdensome during treatment. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the teams at West Herr Subaru of Lockport and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for their continued support of LLS’s mission: to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Helping others strengthens communities, which is why West Herr Subaru of Lockport is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like West Herr Subaru of Lockport have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 02/06/2025, West Herr Subaru of Lockport donated 120 coats to Lockport Family YMCA. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
As a new store we were excited to host our first ever Santa Paws! Staff, friends, family, and customers gathered at West Herr Subaru Lockport for pet pics with Santa! Proceeds benefited our local animal rescue and 7 Hearts Maternity Rescue was on hand to join in the fun! Every pup received a complimentary holiday bandana and goodie bag! Mom and dad were entered to win an autographed Josh Allen football. See everyone next year!
This Thanksgiving, West Herr contributed $100,000 worth of turkeys to help families across Western New York enjoy a warm holiday meal. At our Lockport location, we joined in by hosting a food drive to collect non-perishable items, ensuring even more families had everything they needed for a festive feast. As a special thank-you to our generous donors, we added a fun twist: every person who brought in a non-perishable food item was entered to win one of five autographed jerseys from our very own Team West Herr member, Josh Allen. Thanks to the incredible kindness of our customers, employees, and community partners, we were able to provide hundreds of families with a holiday to remember. Giving back to our community is something we’re passionate about. Thank you for helping us share the love this holiday season!
Millions of students in high-needs schools across the country lack the supplies and learning materials necessary to be successful in the classroom. In fact, 92% of teachers in the United States have students whose families cannot afford to purchase any school supplies for their children, often requiring teachers to purchase resources with their own money. This year, West Herr Subaru Lockport participated in the Subaru Loves Learning initiative by supporting students at George M. Southard Elementary School. Through the Subaru Loves Learning partnership between Subaru and AdoptAClassroom.org, West Herr Subaru adopted several classrooms at George M. Southard Elementary, donating essential supplies for the 2024/2025 school year. This donation reflects our commitment to ensuring every child has the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
On July 11th, we celebrated the grand opening of our brand new West Herr Subaru of Lockport location, marking dealership number 40 in the West Herr family! The event was a momentous occasion filled with joy, gratitude, and a commitment to giving back to our community. The festivities brought together our employees, loyal customers, and several high-ranking Subaru executives who traveled to join in the celebration. Their presence underscored the significance of this new chapter for West Herr Subaru, and we were honored to welcome them. As part of the grand opening, Mr. Scott Bieler and Team West Herr wanted to show their appreciation to the community by donating an all new, redesigned 2025 Subaru Forester to People Inc.'s Young Adult Life Transitions (YALT) Program. The YALT Program serves individuals with developmental disabilities in Niagara County, helping them build independence, prepare for employment, and continue their personal development. The Forester will play a vital role in transporting program participants to daily activities that empowers them to thrive. This event was not only a celebration of our new location but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to making a difference in the communities we serve. We are proud to bring West Herr Subaru to Lockport and look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence, both in serving our customers and supporting our community. Here's to many more milestones ahead, fueled by Subaru Love.
What a wondferful day we had!! We are a small senior dog sanctuary getting all set to open our doors, and we were invited to do an event at this store. First of all, what a gorgeous, new building! Secondly, every employee we met was so helpful, kind and welcoming! I'm an old lady and there were so many young people there to help carry our boxes and table and supplies. They treated our pups and us like royalty and even got us cider and donuts and lunch!! We brought nine senior pups with us, but because we have not yet opened, we didn't have any adoptables. The good news is all of them are in very happy and loving homes! And all have been rescued previously! We absolutely LOVE this new partnership and are so grateful! One of our volunteers bought a brand new Outback Limited, and I went back on Monday and bought a brand new Crosstrek! I'm ecstatic! We all are! Thank you, Subaru, Amanda and Gretchen and Mark and Matt!! Looking forward to the future with you! P.S. We had all of our volunteers who own Subarus take pictures of their dogs in their vehicles and we put it together in the sign you see pictured below!
Pets Alive of Western New York is an animal shelter and adoption center in North Tonwanda, New York. We are sincerely greatful for the recent donation of much needed goods and funds From West Herr Subaru. Without local support we could not continue our work.
